About HEDI
Ms. Jewel Wellborn is President of Hydrocarbon Exploration & Development, Inc., an independent consulting company located in Littleton, Colorado. As a highly successful “cross-trained” geologist/geophysicist, Ms. Wellborn has spent the last 30 years working in the oil, gas, and coal industries and has extensive experience in domestic and international areas. Ms Wellborn received her Bachelor of Science in Geology from California State University in Los Angeles, and her Master of Science in Geology from the Colorado School of Mines.
She is considered an expert in the Petraฎ, PetraSeis®, SMT® and MJ LogSleuth® software programs, and conducts training on these software programs throughout North America and overseas. Ms. Wellborn has worked for a number of companies, including Occidental Geothermal, Arco Coal, Conoco, Shell CO2, and Ocean Energy before founding Hydrocarbon Exploration & Development, Inc., in 1999.

Her expertise in Rocky Mountain and Gulf Coast basins, as well as her expertise in Coal Bed Methane and both Conventional and Unconventional reservoirs brings a real life work-flow and understanding to the training she provides. Ms Wellborn is a Certified Petroleum Geologist and a Wyoming Professional Geologist. Ms. Wellborn is an active member of American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists (RMAG), and Denver Geophysical Society (DGS) and is Past President of the RMAG.
